Accor Announces New Market Entry: ibis Styles Reykjavik Will Be Accor's First Hotel in Iceland

REJKYAVIK, Iceland (December 13, 2023) -- Accor, a worldwide leading hospitality group with 5,500 hotels in more than 110 countries, announces the expansion of its global network: Following the recent signing, the group will open its first hotel in Iceland together with its partner “Icelandic Hotels & Resorts / Hotels & Resorts - Investment & Development” in the second quarter of 2024.

The ibis Styles Reykjavik will be located in the country’s capital with excellent connection to the city center and the international airport, and will feature 57 rooms. Prior to the opening, the property which currently operates as Hótel Múli, will undergo an extensive renovation as part of the rebranding. For Accor, it is the second market entry in the Nordic region after the opening of the ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad in spring 2023.

“With the successful signing of the project, we are proud to debut with Accor's first hotel in Iceland next year. ibis Styles is an iconic brand that is very well positioned internationally in the economy segment and whose USP is smart and exceptional design based on an individual story telling for each hotel. Together with our partner HOTELS & RESORTS - INVEST & DEVELOPMENT, we look forward to enriching the Icelandic hotel market and welcoming our guests with the typical heartfelt hospitality the locals are known for,” says Jan Birkelund, Accor Development & Operations Nordics.

“We are delighted to open the first ibis Styles hotel in Iceland together with Accor. Iceland has become a very popular destination among international guests in recent years. With Accor's decades of global hospitality experience and the warmth of the Icelanders we will perfectly cater to their needs at our new ibis Styles Reykjavik”, explains Laurent Michel, Founder & CEO of Icelandic Hotels & Resorts / Hotels & Resorts - Investment & Development.

The Hótel Múli has been on the market since 2016 and will undergo an extensive renovation before opening as ibis Styles Reykjavik in Q2/2024. Located at Hallarmúli 1 in Reykjavik, guests can reach the city centre within 15 minutes by public transport. Keflavík International Airport is a 50-minute drive away.
