TAIPEI (September 01, 2023) -- STARLUX Airlines is proud to launch the first flight on its new Taipei-Kumamoto route today. The inaugural flight JX846 from Taipei to Kumamoto departed at 09:45 AM, heading towards the center of Kyushu, Japan. It’s worth noting that STARLUX Airlines is the first carrier in Taiwan to operate regular flights to Kumamoto. Initially, there will be 5 flights per week directly to Kumamoto. Starting from October 29th, this will be increased to a daily service! Anticipated to touch down at Aso Kumamoto Airport at around 1:00 PM local time, the first flight will be warmly greeted by the iconic mascot of Kumamoto — “Kumamon.” In a demonstration of cultural respect, STARLUX Airlines' Chairman K.W. Chang and CEO Glenn Chai presided over the traditional Japanese inauguration ritual known as " Kagami biraki." This ceremony commemorated a significant milestone and conveyed best wishes for safe and smooth journeys for all future flights.

Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX Airlines, stated, "Following Fukuoka, STARLUX Airlines is opening its second destination in Kyushu — Kumamoto. Kumamoto boasts magnificent natural landscapes and vibrant traditional culture. It's also an important hub for the semiconductor industry, a gathering place for cutting-edge technology in Japan. Positioned at the center of Kyushu, its convenient geographical location allows both business travelers and tourists to enjoy STARLUX Airlines' premium flight services, embarking on a journey to Kumamoto to experience its fiery charm."

To celebrate the inaugural flight, STARLUX Airlines presented each passenger bound for Kumamoto with a premium skincare set from Kumamoto's brand "Domohorn Wrinkle" and a "Kumamon" stuffed toy. Travelers can take the adorable "Kumamon" with them as they visit various famous spots in Kumamoto. A fun dice-rolling game was also held as part of the ceremony, offering prizes for lucky passengers.

Kumamoto becomes STARLUX Airlines' seventh destination in Japan, joining Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Sapporo, and Sendai. Initially, there will be five flights a week to Kumamoto operating the A321neo, with 188 seats including eight business class seats and 180 economy class seats.
