The longstanding partnership between hospitality giants continues to produce high quality hotels across China including two recent new hotels in Hangzhou
HANGZHOU, China (June 29, 2023) -- Accor and H World Group Limited leaders recently gathered in Hangzhou to celebrate two of its latest hotel openings – Mercure Hangzhou Zijingang, the seventh Mercure hotel in the area, and Grand Mercure Hangzhou Zijingang, the first hotel in the Hangzhou region under the Grand Mercure brand. The two new hotels contribute to a richer and more diversified range of hotel options for Chinese and international travelers traveling to Hangzhou, while deepening the partnership and regional presence of these two hospitality giants. Together, Accor and H World Group have already opened more than 470 hotels in China under five brands, including ibis, ibis Styles, Mercure, Novotel, and Grand Mercure.
“Over the past decade, H World Group and Accor have proven to be innovators and strong trusted strategic partners, forging ahead with a shared mission to expand the hospitality market, while successfully growing multiple Accor brands in the Chinese market, and promoting business exploration and innovation along the way,” said Gary Rosen, CEO, Accor Greater China. “With China set to become the largest tourism market in the world, Accor and H World Group will continue to work together to transform the future of Chinese hospitality, building authentic brand experiences for Chinese travelers, with smart technology, sustainable operations guided by our strong ESG principles, and the highest standards in guest experiences.”
The groundbreaking partnership between H World Group and Accor originated in 2014 with a long-term strategic alliance agreement. In 2016, the partnership was formalized with H World Group becoming the master franchisee of Mercure, ibis and ibis Styles in Mainland China, Taiwan, China and Mongolia; and co-development partner on Grand Mercure and Novotel hotels.
"The vigorous development of China's tourism market, the emergence of a powerful middle-class, and new generations of travelers are driving record levels of consumer demand for high-quality hospitality options. H World Group and Accor will continue to work together to meet this demand, achieve mutually beneficial results, and further leverage the booming high-end business and leisure tourism market in China,” said Jin Hui, CEO of H World Group Limited. “With Accor as our partner, we will continue to pursue our goal of developing the right hotel products in the right markets – ultimately matching the needs of travelers who are aspiring to a higher quality of lifestyle."
Accor’s world-renowned international brands have become increasingly popular in China over the past 10 years of partnership with H World Group, demonstrating high profitability and customer loyalty. As of March 2023, the partnership has yielded more than 470 hotels in operation and a robust pipeline of 120 hotels in the works. Throughout China, there are close to 150 Mercure and 20 Grand Mercure hotels in operation respectively, with another 50 Mercure hotels underway in development. The ibis and ibis Styles brand, which currently has more than 300 hotels in China, also has an ambitious plan to grow over the next few years.
H World Group delivers expertise in technology, loyalty and guest traffic in China, along with local management teams that have successfully led each Mercure, ibis and ibis Styles hotel to quickly integrate into the Chinese market with strong momentum and a localized strategy. H World Group’s complete supply chain system has also been a key advantage for the smooth and efficient integration of several Accor brands into each market. Standardized products, modular furniture, and centralized procurement capabilities have greatly reduced construction times, costs, and single-room cost of stores on all hotels jointly developed by H World Group and Accor.
At Mercure Hangzhou Zijingang, guests are welcomed into a soothing haven of modern Morandi colors, overlooking the charms of Hangzhou. Grand Mercure Hangzhou Zijingang, celebrates the region’s cultural heritage with a theme of angelic joy and an outstanding premium hospitality experience. Both hotels reside in Hangzhou’s popular urban and commercial area - Shenhua District – next to the Asian Games Park, Yintai Shopping Center, the fashionable Joy City, and other major business districts and scenic spots. Guests and visitors will enjoy the superior geographical advantages of these two hotels, being in the midst of diverse entertainment, shopping and sightseeing options. The nearby multi-line subway and transportation network make getting around the city easy, whether for business or pleasure.
With a solid foundation of success, Accor and H World Group will continue to lead China’s hospitality industry with some of its strongest and most beloved brands, building beautiful hotels and inspiring more travelers, year after year.
